Omeo primary School is a community school with a strong sense of ownership and pride. We encourage all parents to become partners with teachers in developing positive educational outcomes for their children.
Children who are to be admitted to school must have their fifth birthday on or before April 30th of the year of admission. An Immunisation Certificate, which can be obtained from the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) Telephone - 1800 653 809 or your GP and a Birth Certificate, must be presented at time of enrolment. 2017 will see the establishment of a purpose built Kinder/ child care facility on our school site. This will create even better connections between the school and kinder, supporting a successful transition to school. Each year the Kinder joins with the school in celebrating Book Week, monthly reading circles, and special incursions.
All children are expected to wear neat, clean uniform throughout the year. The school uniform is available for purchase from the school office at very reasonable rates. Price lists are sent home periodically and can also be downloaded here.
The following uniform items (except skivvy) can be purchased from the school:
A wide brimmed royal blue hat must be worn outsde during terms 1 and 4. A royal blue woollen beanie may be worn outside during terms 2 and 3. Suitable footwear is shoes that closed are in and protect the toes. Thongs or sandal are not permitted to be worn.
Appropriate clothing and footwear should be worn during physical education and and sports sessions. Shorts, track pants, tee shirts and approriate sporting footwear are all acceptable.
Jewellery other than studs should not be worn at school. Items such as rings, chains or pins are not permitted as they can be dangerous to the wearer or others during play activities.
Please name every item of your child's uniform with permanent pen or sew in labels. Unnamed lost property is stored in the office foyer with items unclaimed at the end of each term being washed and placed in our second hand uniform section. These second hand uniform items can be purchased at a reduced cost by parents.
Lunch orders are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Lunch orders are supplied by the Omeo Milk Bar. A lunch order list is sent home at the start of the year and can also be downloaded here.
An annual fee per student supplies - books, stationary and some ICT membership, is determined each year. Camps costs and additional excursions will be in addition to this.
An annual fee per student supplies - books, stationary and some ICT membership, is determined each year. Camps costs and additional excursions will be in addition to this.. This fee will cover all books, stationary, two cultural performances, ICT membership for some programs with some grades. Children will not receive individual supplies and will be expected to carry over items such as the book bag, writer’s notebook etc. Children who are prolific workers and need extra books will be supplied these at no extra cost.
School camps, swimming and skiing programs or additional events that occur such as additional sport or excursions are not included in the school fee. Parents are expected to pay for these extra curricular activities. The school will subsidise travel to keep the costs as low as possible for parents.
Where conflict exists over access to your child, the school is bound only to recognise formal court orders or intervention orders that we have sighted.
Custody matters should be settled out of school. Staff should not be expected to deal with and solve custody situations.
